My BFF Jessica ran her FIRST 5k on the 4th of July in her hometown area (Rupert, ID)!
She has been OFFICIALLY bitten by the running bug!
and I couldn't be more excited or MORE proud of her!

She's also started a weight loss competition with some friends and family and has a blog to document everyone's progress. She's been kicking major booty and has lost 16+ lbs in the last 3 weeks!
She's doing SO AWESOME!

Her race ended up being about 3.5 miles (which was a personal distant record for her! wahoo!) and she ran at a faster pace than she ever has during training!
When she was texting me about the race I admitted to her that I was getting a little teary eyed.
There is nothing better than hearing someone else figure out how great running (or any exercise) is. How they can see changes in not only their body, but their mindset as well.
I LOVE that my BFF is a RUNNER now!
(I loved her before, and I'd love her if she wasn't a runner, but still -- She's a RUNNER now! LOVE)
and now she wants to do a 10k!
and I want to do it with her.
We're looking for a race in August or September
(but not 8/18 - I have a half marathon, and not 9/22 - she's running the dirty dash)

9/15 .. Racing Cane .. RUN13 event. They put on really decent events I think. Love when friends find running.

ReplyDeleteCome down to Payson and run the Payson Onion Days 10k. It is on Labor Day. I do not know the date at the moment but it is a fun race with tons of drawings/prizes afterwards.
Do the Run Like a Girl 10K!!! It is saturday Aug 11th. Its a retreat weekend but you can also just sign up for the race. The 10K is 30 bucks. It sounds like a damn good time. I will be there with my mamma and we are so darn excited!
